Perfect kit for a new camera
I recently purchased a Sony TX7 and wanted to keep my camera in mint condition as long as possible. Even though I already dropped it (completely my fault, I should’ve known better than to bring it to a concert without the wrist strap) this case keeps the lens from getting lint and dust in the lens.

The back of the case is leather, or a material that seems like leather, and the rest is a polyester-type material. There’s a slim pocket in the very front to put one extra battery and a few memory cards if needed. The case is padded on both the front and the back with durable foamy material. It makes the case much thicker than needed, but I assume it’ll protect against blunt strikes and minor drops.

The battery does what it needs to do. For TX7 owners, I definitely recommend a second battery unless you don’t shoot much. But the battery dies much quicker than others, probably because of the juice needed to record in 1080i.

The tripod is probably the biggest surprise to this package. While most tripods, you need to manually pull out the three legs, this one you just set on a flat surface and gently press down, and the three legs will be pushed out by the center piece. Think of it as how an umbrella works, how the middle piece is connected to the arms and pushes out to fully deploy the umbrella.

The only con to this kit is that the tripod doesn’t fully fit inside the side pouch. About 1/3 of it sticks out; the only thing you can do is tighten the band around the top so it grips onto the tripod. I rarely take the tripod out unless it’s to a gathering where there’s a lot of people.

In conclusion, if you’re looking to purchase an extra N battery, it’s very well worth the extra $8 to spend on a mini tripod and an excellent carrying case.

good, not perfect
Pros:
- Screen is nice, 4:3 ratio, photos look decent, if not great;
- Tech support (by mail) actually answers next day;
- Support WPA/WPA2 and even AES;
- Even plays back video files, nice features;
- Framechannel / Flikr / PicasaWeb support;

Cons:
- Fancy touch sensitive areas can not be seen once backlight times out, easy to press the wrong button accidentally, or just plain press a button when one tries to move the frame. Very annoying;
- Only 802.11b hardware, no support for 802.11g;
- No support for any other RSS source other than those above;
- No support for fixed IP, no wired Ethernet port - if you have troubles with the wireless, you are out of luck;
- Entering wireless key is quite slow/complex, definitely not for the faint-hearted. Although once entered, the unit will remember it even if you turn it off (good);
- Too many functionality means many layers of menus - again, not grandma friendly;
- Rebate was impossible to get;

Overall: Due to the invisible touch areas this is not really grandma friendly. As a standalone picture frame it works nice, but as a wireless frame watching feed(s) I run into troubles with it. Although that could be due to my (complex) home network, there is not much I can do about it. It either works for you or you can forget about it.

Big Disappointment
I dreamed and wanted to have a Voyeur Right Angle Spy Lens for a long time.
Finally, at my USA visit I purchased it. I mounted it to a Nikon D50 camera and at my first attempt, I noticed that, during autofocusing as the lense turns, the Spy Lens also turns and consequently the picture changes. As a result, the microcontroller of the camera became totally confused. I am very disappointed but I still desperately look to find a solution for using it.

Creepy Voyer Attachment
I have wanted to own one of these since I was a teenage boy. At age 60 I finally bought one. Unfortunately it arrived with the size adapters missing.

The concept is a bit weird, I guess good for stalkers and people who like to pretend they are private detectives. Other than those value judgements on my part, on a technical basis, it works fine.
